3. Indications for Use.
Pollinosis and allergic rhinitis (for quick cancellation of such symptoms as sneezing, running nose, itching, rhinedema and stuffiness in nose, itching eyes, blear-eyedness and hyperemia of conjunctiva, itching palate and cough), chronic idiopathic hives (for decrease of itching, dimension and the quantity of elements of rash).

4. Action
Apart from antihistamine activity Desloratadine takes anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory action, resolves presentations of the various reactions, being the basis for the progression of allergic inflammation.
The drug is being determined in blood plasma during 30 minutes after intake. Maximal concentration will be reached after 3 hours in blood plasma, and an average half-life is 27 hours. Mainly it is cleared with kidneys (90%) and with the intestinal tract (10%).

5. Posology and Administration
Desloratadine is indicated for oral use. The drug is recommended for use in the same time of the day regardless of meal, and it should be rinsed with a small amount of water. The tablet should be swallowed in whole without chewing.
To adults and teenagers 12 years of age and older: the drug is to be administered once daily in a dose of 5 mg (1 tablet or 10 ml of sirop).
To children the drug is administered in the form of sirop once daily; from 2 to 5 years of age in a dose of 1.25 mg (2.5 ml of sirop); from 6 to 11 years in a dose of 2.5 mg (5 ml).

6. Counterindications
Hypersensitivity to Desloratadine or to other components of the drug.
It is not recommended to take it during pregnancy, as there have not been done appropriate clinical studies and there have not been determined a safety of its’ use during pregnancy. Desloratadine excretes into breast milk that is why breastfeeding women should not take it.

7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…
There are not finally determined efficiency end safety of the sirop use in babies of less than 6 months of age and the tablets use in children less than 12 years of age.
In case of a bad kidney failure caution should be taken in use of the medication.
It is not yet determined its efficiency and safety in babies less than 2 years of age.

8. Interface with Other Medications
Due to the fact that the ferment responsible for the metabolism of Desloratadine is not determined, there can not be fully excluded a possibility of interface with other medications, on the other hand the drug does not enhance an inhibitory effect of alcohol on psychomotor function. To the extent practicable it is desirable not to take alcoholic beverages and other substances affecting central nervous system.

9. Overdosing
Headache, tiredness, dry mouth. There noticed very rare cases of hypersensitivity reactions, among them anaphylactic reactions and rash.

10. Side Effects
In using of the sirop in babies from 6 to 23 months most often there is noticed diarrhea and fever, in other age categories – high tiredness, dry mouth, headache. Very seldom – hypersensitivity reactions (including anaphylactic reaction and rash), tachycardia, feeling of heart beat, rise of activity of liver ferments, hepatitis.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation
It is not recommended for the administration during pregnancy, as it has not been determined the safety of the medication’s use in pregnant women. Desloratadine excretes into breast milk that is why it is recommended to stop breast feeding in the period of Desloratadine therapy.

12. Driving
It is not noticed any influence of the drug in recommended doses on the ability to drive vehicles and to work with mechanisms. Desloratidine is not recommended only in cases of hypersensitivity to the medication.
